<dc:description>Purine nucleoside phosphorylase (PNP) activity in spleen lymphocytes of Sarcoma 180-bearing mice increased from early time after S180 transplantation and reached 5 times the normal value within 8 weeks, while no significant change was observed in adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity. More than 5 times and 3 times the normal activity of PNP were found in B and T lymphocytes, respectively, in S180-bearing mice at 8 weeks after the tumor graft. The S180-bearing mouse T and B lymphocytes with high PNP activity showed suppressor activity against the concanavalin A response of normal lymphocytes. These results suggest that PNP activity in tumor-bearing mice may be related to suppressor cell activity.</dc:description>
