| 内容記述 | Using data from the Japanese Life Course Panel Survey(JLPS), this paper investigated the relationship between academic achievement, socioeconomic background and access to university in Japan. While the university entrance rate has drastically risen since 1990s, socioeconomic disparity in access to university has not necessarily decreased. On the other hand, the effect of academic achievement on access to university has significantly decreased during the same period. More detailed analysis revealed, however, the decline of academic achievement effect on whether to go on to university was found only for those with lower socioeconomic background. As a consequence, socioeconomic differences in the effect of academic achievement on access to university almost disappeared. | |||||
