Follow-up study of eating habits in patients who had undergone subtotal (44 patients) or total gastrectomy (19 patients) showed that the characteristics of diet and the manner of meal tended to change in this order with time after surgery. The patients were able to follow the general family diet about three months after gastrectomy. Within an additional one or two months, patients usually acquired the habit of taking three meals a day. A constant amount of food in almost every regular meal was established in most of the patients by six months after surgery. |
