To investigate the factors affecting the mental development of the adolescence, relationships between personality traits and developmental achievement scores of college students were analyzed. Personality traits were obtained from 6 tests including Yatabe-Guilford personality inventory (YG), Minnesota multiphasic personality inventory (MMPI), and Cornell medical index (CMI). Mental developmental scores were obtained from questionnaires based on the Havighurst's theory. An analysis of coefficients of correlations revealed that high achievers of mental developments have such personality traits as emotionally unstable, self-defensive, hysteric and schizothymic. These results suggested that adolescence-specific personality traits were closely related to the mental development of these ages. |
