The PCNA negative cells in gastric cancer, gastric mucosa showing intestinal metaplasia and normal gastric mucosa have expressed Le^Y antigen. The Le^Y expression has increased with differentiation from the stem cells to the parietal cells, mucous neck cells and chief cells, and decreasing the rate of proliferation of gastric cancer.
