| 内容記述 | Syllable structure in English is investigated under the moraic theory. The following templates are proposed : S - > m 1 (m2),ml->CoV (C) , m 2 - > X (C). The syllabification based on these templates provides more adequate descriptions of the vowel shortening processes in English. In addition, if Hayes's (1989) formulation of the CiV-lengthening is applied, the template-based syllabification leads to better solutions to several problems related to die lengthening process. | |||||
