内容記述 In this paper, I have summarized on the stage of development about the pupils' geograph-ical cognition and affection by reconsidering my many former studies in terms of the follow-ing five points.1. Expantion of pupils' cognitive space. 2. Pupils' affection (likes and dislikes, attitude, image) to the regions in the world and home country. 3. Contens in which pupils are interested. 4 . Ability of geographical thinking. 5 . Level of basic knowledge. As a result, I have found the following three stages of development. Stage 1 (before three grade of Elemetary School). Pupils have little the true geographi-cal cognition and affection in this stage.Stage 2 (from three grade of Elemetary school to under grades of Junior high school). In this stage the level of pupil's geographical cognition and affection are growth rapidly in both quantity and quality. Especially, the priod from the latter half of four grade to six grade of elementary school are most important because puipls' affection to regions are for-med in this priod. Therefore, geographical teaching in this priod is most effective to the pupils' affective growth. Stage 3 (from upper grades of junior high school to grades of sinior high school). In this stage the pupils' geographical cognition and affection are advance to higher level in quality though stop the growth in quantity.
