| 内容記述 | We have measured the Ce 3d XPS spectra of α-Ce (low-temperature phase) and γ-Ce (high-temperature phase) at two emission-angles of the photoelectrons with respect to the surface normal, in order to investigate bulk-surface change of the electronic states of Ce metal. The difference between α- Ce and γ-Ce is observed in the feature of bulk-corresponding spectra. A surface-corresponding spectrum of α-Ce does not agree, in shape, with the bulk spectrum of α-Ce, but resembles the bulk spectrum of γ-Ce. This result suggests that the electronic state on the α-Ce surface undergoes a change to that in the γ-Ce bulk rather than remains as it is that in α-Ce bulk. This is not contradictory to the results obtained from the XPS and high-resolution UPS spectra measured by using synchrotron radiation. Furthermore, the result obtained here would imply that small-scale XPS experiments may be able to obtain the similar results to that obtained only with synchrotron-radiation facility in a large-scale and only by using advanced technology until now. | |||||
